Mahito

A cursed spirit born from human hatred of other humans, who plays at philosophy while reshaping people's souls like clay. He is curious rather than cruel in his own view, which makes him worse, and he treats Junpei's grief as an experiment. His existence is the series' argument that people manufacture their own monsters.

Humanoid and stitched together, with mismatched grey-blue hair, seams running across his face and limbs, and hands that are always slightly too ready. He is designed to look like something assembled from spare people, because that is roughly what he is.

Curious, childish and casually monstrous. He experiments with human souls the way a bored student pulls apart an insect, and he genuinely wants to know what people are. He is also the series' clearest thesis: born from humanity's hatred of itself, he is what that feeling looks like when it gets hands.

A cursed spirit born of the fear and loathing people direct at each other, allied with Geto's faction and interested in territory only as a means to keep experimenting. He targets the isolated and the grieving because they are easiest to reshape.

1. Vs. Mahito

   Cultivates Junpei's resentment into a weapon, then discards him, which is the season's cruellest sequence and Yuji's first real failure.

2. Kyoto Sister-School Exchange Event

   Coordinates with the faction while Gojo is kept away, and tests how far the students can be pushed.

3. Origin of Blind Obedience

   Ends the season with his plans openly in motion and his interest in Yuji sharpened.
