Krista Lenz

Tiny, blonde and relentlessly kind, Krista is adored by her fellow trainees, who half-jokingly call her a goddess. She finished tenth in the class and is usually found looking after exhausted or injured comrades, often at risk to herself. Her closest companion is the abrasive Ymir, who teases her constantly while guarding her fiercely - a relationship that hints at a past Krista never discusses.

One of the smallest soldiers of her class, Krista is slight and delicately built, with fair skin, large blue eyes and short blonde hair that falls just past her jaw, kept out of her face with a side part. Her soft, doll-like features are constantly remarked upon by her fellow cadets. She wears the standard uniform of the training corps - white trousers, a short brown jacket over a shirt, tall boots and the leather straps of the vertical maneuvering harness - with the Two Roses crest, later trading the emblem for the winged insignia and green cloak of the Survey Corps.

Gentle, soft-spoken and relentlessly considerate, Krista is the cadet everyone likes and no one really knows. She tends the wounded, shares her rations and volunteers for the unpleasant jobs, and her classmates half-jokingly treat her as a living saint. Beneath the kindness lies something more troubling: an eagerness to spend her own life for others, as though being useful to someone at the moment of death would settle an old debt. Ymir needles her constantly about this, insisting the goodness is a performance. Krista rarely argues back, but she also refuses to abandon people, arguing with officers and comrades alike when someone is written off as unsalvageable.

Krista grew up on an isolated estate farm inside Wall Sina, raised by a bitter woman who would not speak to her and by servants who treated her as an inconvenience. She was the unacknowledged illegitimate child of a powerful interior family, and her existence was a liability to them. The arrangement that saved her life also erased it: she was given a new name belonging to a dead girl and pushed into the military, warned never to reveal who she really was. By the time she entered the 104th Training Corps she had internalized the lesson that her life had no value of its own, which is precisely why she throws it around so cheaply. None of this is known to her comrades during the events of this series.

1. 104th Training Corps

   Krista trains alongside Eren, Mikasa and Armin, quickly becoming the class favourite for her kindness and her willingness to intervene when instructors or classmates single someone out. She is frequently seen in the company of Ymir, whose sharp cynicism makes an odd pairing with her gentleness, and she finishes tenth in the graduating class.

2. Battle of Trost District

   When the Colossal Titan breaches the outer gate, Krista is deployed with the other cadets into a slaughter. She survives the fighting around the supply depot and the evacuation, working through the aftermath to treat casualties and steady panicking soldiers, and she witnesses the dispute over whether Eren should be trusted after his transformation.

3. Choosing a Regiment

   Facing the commander's blunt recruitment speech - that most who join the Survey Corps die outside the walls - Krista stays in the hall while the majority of the class flees. She enlists with the Scouts alongside Ymir, Sasha, Connie, Reiner, Bertholdt and the rest of the survivors of her class.

4. 57th Expedition Beyond the Walls

   Assigned to the long-range scouting formation, Krista rides in the ranks as the Female Titan tears the column apart. She helps recover and tend wounded soldiers during the chaotic retreat, refuses to leave comrades behind, and returns to the walls with a corps gutted by losses and a mission that achieved almost nothing.

5. Aftermath in the Interior

   In the unsettled period following the expedition and the capture inside Stohess District, Krista remains with the surviving Scouts as the regiment is reorganized and public opinion turns against it. The discovery of Titans within Wall Rose sends the recruits, her included, scrambling south toward a new emergency as the series closes.

Closest companion

An inseparable and deliberately abrasive friendship. Ymir mocks Krista's saintliness and warns her against dying for strangers, yet shadows her constantly and is the only person who seems to sense that her kindness hides something.

One of the few classmates Krista is simply relaxed around. They share food, chores and gossip, and both end up in the Survey Corps after the fall of Trost despite having every reason to choose safety.

The class's big brother figure treats Krista with obvious protectiveness and is teased about it constantly. Her fellow cadets' half-serious worship of her as a goddess is a running joke among the group.

Comrades rather than close friends. Krista is among the cadets caught up in the crisis over Eren's Titan power, and she serves in the same regiment during the disastrous expedition beyond the walls.
